This weather can leave us scratching our heads!

This weather can leave us scratching our heads! Last week got up @ 3:30 a.m. to run the irrigation to keep the Strawberries from freezing (22 degrees). Yesterday and today we have run the irrigation to keep the strawberries from getting too hot (92 degrees)! Strawberries are in full bloom! Probably about 3 weeks until we are picking. Busy getting new beds ready to summer veggies. New Raspberries arrived today to replace those that didn't make it last year. Lots to do before it rains Thursday night.

Happy Fourth of July!

Yesterday we started making the doors for the new high tunnel, it is almost finished. We got the rest of the Broccoli and all of the Cauliflower in the ground yesterday. As soon as the field dries we will finish the Cabbage and Kale. More seeds started in the Greenhouse: Lettuce, Spinach, Kale, Yellow Beans, Green Beans, Yellow Squash, and Green Squash. More seeds

Milk is Here!

At 3:30 this a.m. it was 22 degrees.

Yesterday was a busy day. We adjusted the poly on one section of the new high tunnel and spent the rest of the day tightening the ropes that hold the plastic on. At 3:30 this a.m. it was 22 degrees. Turned on the drip tape in the strawberry patch. The "heat" of the irrigation water will give us a couple of degrees of protection under the covers on the strawberries. The irrigation water isn't heated, but 58 degree well water is warmer than 22 degrees. The strawberries are starting to bloom so we

Lots done on the Farm today:

Lots done on the Farm today: We got the poly on the new Haygrove High Tunnel. It got a little hairy once the wind picked up, but we got it done. One side needs to be adjusted first thing one morning when the wind isn't blowing. Now it just needs the side skirts and doors put on and we are done! 1850 Broccoli plants in the ground too!
